Microleakage – Compromised Cases
Dr. Victor Cedillo
A 37-year-old patient presented with sensitivity in tooth #18. Examination revealed a Class I composite restoration with defective margins but no secondary caries. Due to the compromised seal, the restoration needed to be replaced. The old composite was conservatively removed, revealing a shallow cavity. EQUIA Forte® HT was used for the restoration, offering excellent marginal seal, fluoride release, and resistance to microleakage, making it ideal for managing sensitivity from marginal failure.

Initial composite restoration on tooth #18 showing compromised margins.

Excavation of old restorative material from the occlusal and buccal surfaces, followed by application of GC CAVITY CONDITIONER.

Cavity blot dried to avoid desiccation and preserve optimal moisture levels.

Final preparation showing moist dentin—ideal for chemical bonding with EQUIA Forte® HT.

EQUIA Forte® HT placed into the cavity, ensuring complete adaptation to the cavity walls.
